I never had any plan to make an overseas holiday trip until I read the news that Arsenal would visit Kuala Lumpur at July 2012. Since I was a Gooners (Fans of Arsenal), this was a chance to realize my dream to watch Arsenal game at stadium, even it was a friendly match. So, 3 months before the matchday, me and my friends that was also a Gooners prepare a passport, flight ticket, hotel, and bought a matchday ticket. I was pretty nervous, since it would be my 1st time took a flight, and also my 1st overseas trip that would be realize my dream to watch Arsenal.
At that time, I was given a task to made a itinerary. So, I was going to bookstore and found the book that written by Claudia Kaunang (travel writer from Indonesia) that made a trip in ASEAN with very low budget. Since i am still inexperience with the itinerary, I just copy the Kuala Lumpur part to our itinerary and done !!
But, “You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.” 2 weeks before the trip, I had an announcement at my university, that my final thesis exams would be moved at 1 day before the match. We already bought flight tickets that departed 3 days before the match. So, in order to enter the exam and also to watch the match, I need to book another flight ticket that made me return 1 day before the match, and flight back to Kuala Lumpur after the examination. And, without thinking too much, I just booked it since I did not want to miss the chance to meet Arsenal. (The ticket was also more expensive than the flight ticktes that we booked 3 months before)

So, we were going to Kuala Lumpur, and going to Genting Highlands as we planned. The next day, I alone need to go back to Medan in order to prepare for the examination. My friends still continue their trip at city. I was also succeed at my thesis, but another bad news directly came to me after exams. My professors told me to complete the revision in 3 days, since she would going abroad. If I delayed the revision, I would need to wait for another 6 months for graduation. Of course, I did not want to made myself became unemployee for 6 months without a job.
It was very unhappy moment for me. It was my 1st trip to go abroad, my dream trip to watch Arsenal. But, I would cancelled it in order to made me graduate as soon as possible. So, after discussing with my friends, family, and my girlfriend, I made the decision, to not going back to Kuala Lumpur and stay in Medan to complete my thesis revision.
But, the 1 day experience in Genting Highlands, the short moments at Kuala Lumpur made me more curious to come back again since I still had not time to explore the city. From that bad moments, I learned to made a itinerary and had passion and dream to explore any small parts in this world with limited budget (backpackers). I finished the book, and guess, next year I am really became backpackers, and exploring the ASEAN for 10 days with my own itinerary. Also, at 2015, I realized my dream to watch Arsenal match in Singapore at Barclays Asia Trophy events. So ??? “God’s plans will always be greater and more beautiful than all your disappointments”
